MY STORY

A big part of my childhood was spent building and painting monsters. I have had a crazy multifaceted career, but the monsters are closest to my heart. In the 1990's my partner and I at Minnefex started to do sculpting, molding, and casting for George Stephenson, then of Geometric Design. On and off for years I have always sculpted and played around with monsters, aliens, dinosaurs, you know, that sort of thing. The past 8 years or so I have increased my output and have produced kits for many different companies in the garage kit and collectible industries. I am thankful that I can add to this wonderful hobby and the greater monsterverse in some fun and quirky ways.

"Ah ain't dun yit."

Along the way I have done a lot of very different things.

Here are some highlights:

FILM GRIP AND FX

Worked on tons of commercials, feature films Grumpy Old Men, Prince's Graffiti Bridge, and others.

MINNEFEX SPECIAL FX STUDIO

Myself and friend David Weiberg founded Minnefex in 1987, started in the living room of an old house we were renting, moved to an attic, then a basement, and it grew to a company of over 20 employees and thousands of square feet. Did FX for films, commercials, still photography, trade shows, displays. A highlight for me was building a display called "Honeywell's Comfortville" for Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center. (it no longer exists, as with so many things!) Though I left in 2010, David still runs the business under MNFX and it continues to make amazing stuff. Check them out at www.mnfx.com!

CANOPY GAMES

Started a game production studio and made over 20 computer games for retail including series for Harley Davidson, Hot Rod, History Channel, and more. My current alias is a nod to a 50's b-movie monster game I designed called "I Was an Atomic Mutant!" . . . that was not very successful but we had a blast making it! Canopy Games does not exist any more!

ROTOR DESIGN

Started a companion graphic design company that did design and websites for Pure Fishing, Cooking Stores, lots of retail outlets. Rotor Design does not exist any more!

SURLY BREWING

Over 10 years with this scrappy brewery as Creative Director and artist as they grew from 22 employees to hundreds. Single handedly created the very first suite of fully branded packaging, over the years I did tons of illustrations, package designs, posters, marketing materials. Traveled as brand ambassador and helped launch Surly in many states and Canada. Designed interior signage and display bar for the Destination Brewery. Featured artist for Darkness, Surlyfest, and SYX Anniversary beer, 2011.

PALEONTOLOGY

I have done artwork, logos, graphic design, sculpture and visualization for many museums and displays. I have been on many dinosaur digs and helped out in various ways since 2001. I have made contributions to displays and museums in South Dakota, Montana, Texas, Indiana,  Switzerland, Dubai, who knows what comes next?

VIDEO GAME PACKAGING

I have designed and done production for video game packaging (XBOX, PS4/5, Nintendo Switch) on and off for many years. Along the way I've been able to work with major licensors like DreamWorks Animation, Mattel, Disney, Hasbro, Nickelodeon, Universal Studios and many more.
